The Cronulla electorate contains the ‘Birthplace of Modern Australia’, Kurnell, where Captain James Cook became the first European to make contact on Australian soil in 1770.
The Cronulla electorate is bordered on three sides by water. The Pacific Ocean in the east, Georges River in the north and picturesque Port Hacking in the south. It includes the suburbs of Burraneer, Caringbah, Caringbah South, Cronulla, Dolans Bay, Kurnell, Lilli Pilli, Sylvania Waters, Taren Point, Woolooware and parts of Miranda, Sylvania and Yowie Bay.
