I grew up in Caringbah from the time I was six and attended Burraneer Bay, Cronulla Public School and Caringbah High School. I was able to study law while working full time. I then practised as a Barrister before I was elected to Parliament in 1984. I am grateful that I lived in a community like the Sutherland Shire which provided opportunities for me without any inherited wealth or connections. My Parliamentary service has included Government Whip, Opposition Whip, Secretary to Shadow Cabinet, Chairman on the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC). Currently I am a member of the Committee on the Office of the Ombudsman and Police Integrity Commission and the ICAC committee. However, my number one priority has, and always will be, representing the people of the Cronulla electorate. My mission is to preserve and enhance our quality of life so that together we enjoy the best possible lifestyle. By working with the community over thousands of millions of new and upgraded facilities has been achieved. I believe I have the experience, integrity and knowledge that the people of Cronulla need. I know the electorate and its people and understand your concerns. |
