Cronulla MP, Malcolm Kerr said today the Rees Government should be providing better replacement bus services for the major shutdowns on the Cronulla line in April.
Woolooware Station will be completely closed from 4 to 22 April for works associated with the Cronulla Duplication project. According to CityRail’s website, interruptions will also occur between Friday 3 April to Tuesday 14 April with buses replacing trains between Cronulla and Caringbah and Cronulla and Sutherland. Further interruptions will then take place from Tuesday, 14 April to Friday 24 April with buses replacing trains between Cronulla and Sutherland. Mr Kerr said that if the Rees government believed the shutdown of the line was inevitable during the duplication it should ensure that its replacement bus services run to regular stops and routes instead of leaving passengers stranded as has occurred in the past. Mr Kerr also demanded what advance notice had been given about the shutdown as not everyone has access to the internet. “I am also disappointed that the State Government is not providing replacement Express bus services to and from the City for workers during the working week.” Mr Kerr said “Transport Minister Campbell must ensure that there are sufficient services running from Sutherland to the City so that Cronulla line passengers are not subjected to long delays at Sutherland” Shutdown dates can be checked by commuters on www.cityrail.info or by calling the Transport Infoline on 131500. |
